Scope of Responsibility
Responsible for developing and overseeing implementation of policies and programs to achieve objectives for market share, distribution, and sales in domestic brands/products through appropriate markets (e.g., retail outlets, distributors, healthcare organizations, purchasing groups, and the like). Develops sales goals, monitors results achieved, and initiates actions to achieve attainment of established objectives.
Responsible for overseeing and directing subordinate managers, and implementing effective sales training programs. Establishes and maintains top-level contacts with existing and potential customers, and represents Company in key sales calls, trade shows, and negotiations. This position has 68 direct reports at this time.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of fifteen years of work related experience is mandatory.
Strong industry knowledge preferred:
Approximately fifteen years progressively more responsible, related work experience necessary in order to gain full understanding of sales, marketing, distribution and operational functions.
Excellent leadership and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
Ability, talent, commitment and ambition to assume increased scopes of responsibility in organization.
- Knowledge of Human Resource management, employment statutes and requirements, Knowledge of sales, business plans, and business development strategies and high level communication and negotiation skills at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
- Approximately ten years progressively more responsible, related experience in order to gain knowledge of retail merchandising with a major consumer goods company and to develop and evaluate sales plans, develop and implement budgets, policies and procedures for assigned areas, and provide effective supervision and motivation of managers, sales staff, and outside brokers and representatives.
- Organizational and analytical abilities necessary to oversee and organize the work of others, gather and evaluate sales data, monitor market trends and competitor activities, and initiate effective responses.
- High level verbal and written communications skills necessary to develop and conduct formal sales presentations, represent Company to key accounts, negotiate sales, and provide effective leadership and motivation to others.
- Internal Contacts: Management team, to develop and evaluate sales goals and results achieved; sales managers and staff to motivate, educate, inform, or appraise; other department heads to ensure that functions relating to sales, production, or deliveries meet customer requirements.
- External Contacts: Contacts with major customers to stimulate sales and promotional opportunities. Top executives of representative organizations and international operations in order to promote and develop business growth. Such contacts require high level presentation and negotiation skills. Various trade organizations and peers of other companies to monitor significant trends and developments in field.
Compensation
Base Target - $175,000+
Bonus Target - 30%+ at annual plan
