Position Title: Techncial Sales Specialist

Scope of Responsibility

Responsible for the direct sales of the Company’s products.  The Technical Sales Specialist will cover the entire territory to promote and sell the Company’s autoimmune and infectious disease product lines. Prospect for new accounts in territory as well as monitor and support exiting accounts. Interacts with sales, field technical team and marketing team and reports regularly to Regional Sales Manager. Responsible for developing, selling, and protecting accounts within the territory.

Autonomous contributor who revels in improving the success of the team. Clear thinker who can anticipate client opportunities and manage a process of meetings, conversations to recognize account opportunities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree B.A. or B.S. in the biological sciences or business degree with 5+ years of direct sales experience including instrumentation. Related work experience may be substituted for a degree. Must have experience in the in-vitro diagnostic market, autoimmune and infectious disease market, and immunoassay instrumentation. Ability to travel extensively throughout territory. Must be familiar with existing customer base in territory, ie; hospitals and reference laboratories.

REQUIRED SKILLS/APTITUDES

Typical customer is very large research or reference facility or hospitals with >300 beds. Since the product mix addresses GI, Rheumatologist, OB, Liver and pediatrics, experience with clinical issues and products for these areas will be valuable. For some of the products you are intimately involved in demand creation as well as sales. Call points continue to move further up the chain of authority within the hospitals so higher than usual poise will be preferable.  Top 3 skill sets required: 1. communication (listen, verbal, written) 2. Tenacity (sales sometime take long time and need to create need) 3. Solution orientation with products and partner companies that provide platforms for some products used.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Proven ability to analyze a situation using experience with scientific measures of accuracy and precision as well as industry standards for product excellence.  Proficient in use of Microsoft products for correspondence and analysis ( Excel, Word, Powerpoint).

 

 Compensation

  • Target base:      $70K - $80K (Based on Experience)

  • Target bonus:    $30-50K target but open ended

  • Company car:    Company car or Auto Allowance

 

 Travel

  • 50%
